Curriculum Programmes
Experience ITE Programme (EIP)
To instill interest in skills and build aptitude, the Secondary 2 N(T) students will visit the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) for two days in an Experience ITE Programme (EIP).
Elective Modules
To broaden student’s perspectives of career prospects and opportunities, students are provided with unique learning experiences when they take elective modules. In Marsiling, students get to go through 2 Categories or elective modules which are the Category A Electives and Category B Electives.

Category A Elective Modules
Category A Elective Modules are electives offered by ITE and here in Marsiling, most electives chosen are related to their subjects learnt in school (i.e. Elements of Business Skills, Science or Craft and Tech subjects) in order to help them apply learning and get to know how the learning of these subjects are extended in higher institutes of learning. Students who take Category A electives can gain accreditation to specific ITE modules pursued in ITE in future and obtain certification from ITE. -
Category B Elective Modules
Category B Elective Modules conducted by specialists in specific career industries allow students to have better awareness of career industries they can pursue in future and exposure and experience to specific industries students are interested in like the hospitality and engineering industries help them form aspirations for themselves for the future.
Students in Marsiling Secondary School have shown potential in various career industries. The learning they have undergone through these taster modules have instilled a renewed sense of passion for learning and a desire to work towards their areas of interests.
Music Syllabus T
The Normal (Technical) Music syllabus aims to provide students with a broad-based music education that is relevant to new developments in the music and music-related industries. It recognises the use of music technology in contemporary musical expression and experience, and integrates music technology in developing basic skills and creativity. It fosters students’ musicianship and understanding through exposure to a wide range of music.
The syllabus provides opportunities for students to develop and extend their musical interests and skills through music making activities. The prominence of coursework promotes an experiential learning approach that would engage and motivate N(T) students.
Through the syllabus, students learn to appreciate the function of music in the larger society and to develop a lifelong love for music.
Elements of Business Skills
The subject intend to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of:
- basic business activities in the travel and tourism, hospitality and retail industries
- basic marketing that focuses on understanding the needs and wants of customers and the marketing mix; and
- basic customer relations focusing on communicating with customers and providing customer service.
Students are given the opportunity to participate in Work Experience Programme in the hospitality industry. Students are exposed to the travel and tourism and hospitality industries in Singapore through learning journeys so that they can relate what they learnt in class with the reality in Singapore.
Computer Applications
The Computer Applications syllabus aims to prepare students to be technologically adept citizens, and to function and contribute effectively in an increasingly technologically-driven world. The syllabus emphasizes fundamental knowledge and skills, and includes the appreciation and use of several software application packages for word processing, computer drawing and image editing, multimedia presentations and documents, spreadsheet calculations and charts, game design, programming; as well as, applications on the Internet.
Specifically, the aims of the syllabus are to enable students to:
- Acquire skills in using a variety of application software and associated computer hardware to accomplish tasks, communicate, and facilitate activities.
- Develop an awareness of how computing technology is used in the home, school, workplace and community
- Appreciate the role computers play in everyday life and recognise the impact computers have on society and people
- Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

- Computer Fundamentals (CPF)
- Media Elements (MEL)
- Document Processing (DOP)
- Spreadsheets (SST)
- Multimedia Communication (MMC)
- Media Computing (MEC)
